AW Signs selected as signage partner to the “reimagined” New Sydney Fish Markets

Supported by an injection of $750 million from the NSW Government, the iconic Sydney Fish Market and the surrounding Bays Precinct is being reimagined to create a world class piece of architecture,  hailed as Sydney’s most significant building since the Opera House.

Set to open at the end of 2024, the New Sydney Fish Market is destined to attract global attention, with visitation expected to double to over 6 million people annually. The flagship project for the NSW Government will revive Blackwattle Bay, support our vital tourism and fishing industry, and will deliver much needed upgraded technology including improved facilities to keep seafood fresh and to allow for easier trade.

With Multiplex appointed to deliver this groundbreaking development, the New Fish Markets will boast over 6,000 square meters of new public space in a four-storey market hall setting with new restaurants, cafes, bars, fishmongers and speciality food retailers as well as new public promenades, offices, commercial space and a ferry wharf.

In what is poised to become the world's third-largest fish market, AW Signs are thrilled to have been selected as the signage partner to Multiplex on this purpose built, authentic operating fish market and major food and dining attraction on Sydney’s inner harbour.

A collaboration with renowned Danish firm 3XN with BVN as executive architect and Aspect Studios as landscape architect, the newly built market will include a distinctive wave-shaped and scale-patterned roof paying homage to the fishing industry.

We are extremely excited to get underway in fabricating close to $1.5 million worth of signage for this immense project.
